I want to emphasize to ALL of you how very important it is to stay - TopicsExpress

I want to emphasize to ALL of you how very important it is to stay on top of your health! If you are not feeling well, please do not assume it is a simple cold and lay down to take a nap - as much as you dont want to hear this, I am going to say it - if you lay down, you may not get back up. If you do not feel well, you NEED to determine what the problem is so you can treat it accordingly. Drivers are especially susceptible to stress-related health complications. Stress on its own does not directly cause heart conditions, strokes, diabetes, or other potentially life-threatening conditions; but if you are at high risk for any of those (or any other serious) conditions, stress can and WILL lower your resistance and make it easier for those conditions to take root. Other things, such as exposure to CO or other toxic/hazardous fumes or substances, can also cause you to experience health issues. If you dont feel right, please dont just take a Sudafed and lay down - please realize that it could be something more serious, and you need to address it. Especially if you smoke, drink, take certain kinds of medications, are sedentary (and lets be honest, a majority of drivers are sedentary), or are at high risk for certain conditions - STAY ON TOP OF YOUR HEALTH. Even a seemingly perfectly healthy person can experience a life-changing, possibly life-ending, medical event. Do NOT ignore symptoms; its a simple matter to make a phone call and talk to your primary care physician about your symptoms and what they could possibly be indicating. If you feel especially bad or off, call emergency services and have them take you to the nearest ER. There is only one YOU, and you cannot be replaced. Yes, it could be a false alarm - but what if its not? Personally Id much rather get it checked out and have it be a false alarm, than take my chances on my own. I can pay off a bill; I can even declare bankruptcy (Ive done it in the past, no biggie). But I cant come back from the dead. My family needs me; and I want to be around for them. Im sure you all do too, so PLEASE take my advice. I am about to enter Nursing school, and Im sure I will be seeing a lot of cases where a simple checkup would have meant the difference between going home and going to a funeral. I dont want to hear about ANY of you having to be buried by your loved ones because you chose to ignore your bodys signals. PLEASE, if you listen to nothing else I say, listen to this. You are all far too important - God has a purpose for every single one of you - and your families and friends want you, a HEALTHY you, around for as long as possible.
