I want to take a moment to formally commend three lawyers who gave - TopicsExpress

I want to take a moment to formally commend three lawyers who gave all they had in representation of Harlem Lewis. Pat McCann, Tyrone Moncrief and Amy Martin. The trial of a capital murder places more pressure on a lawyer than God intended anyone to have. Every question you ask or fail to ask, every objection you make or fail to make, just might materially impact how long your client gets to breath. There is no way to describe what it feels like to stand with a client when he gets sentenced to death. It is a place I never want to go again. I do not mitigate in any fashion the loss suffered by the familys of Cpl. Jimmie Norman and Terry Taylor. Their loss was needless and unnecessary. However, our system of jurisprudence requires, as it should zealous representation at a jury trial before you can get sentenced to death. Lawyers like these must step up and do the job. These lawyers did their assigned job with class, dignity and pride. I am proud to call each of them my friend.
