I wanted to give a bit of insight on what a cosmetologist deals - TopicsExpress

I wanted to give a bit of insight on what a cosmetologist deals with. Please understand, this is a career, not just a 9-5 job. Yes we pay thousands of dollars to attend college to obtain a license and continue to spend money to keep that license current. I sometimes have to miss important events, like soccer games or karate competitions on Saturdays, or even allowing my son to try out for traveling teams, because my hours (late nights Wednesday and Thursdays sometimes even at 9:00 pm before I walk to my car) do not allow me time to make my clients happy or my children all the same. Forget having a social life, unless you count hair shows or when my close friends are sitting in my chair. (Single mom stylist status) Most stylist do not work on hourly wage or salary. Your stylist most likely works on commission or booth rents. So when you no-show, or cancel at last minute, or expect a discount because my babys cousins fathers sister is a third cousin twice married to my best friend, please please take the time to think, wow, would I want to work for free at my 9-5 job? I know that its hard to understand when you think its okay I just cancelled this one time or I cant afford you so give me a discount or Ill go somewhere else... Emergencies or a sick child is completely understanding when you need to cancel, and I would expect the same respect when that happens in my personal life. I love my career and enjoy making people feel and look beautiful, and I am talented and skilled in this industry, but I am also a hard working mother of two and still have the same bills to pay as you do. :) Now call me so I can make you over with a new haircut and color! 💁💇
