I wanted to share with you a little of what the Lord was teaching me today regarding a Scripture that is one of the most quoted, yet neglected considering its spectrum of meanings or delving into the significance of how this matters to us personally.... Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Many mistakenly assume we are simply praying for world events to be aligned to the will of God and nothing more. But, what He showed me this morning was that this verse, IF PRAYED THROUGH THE RIGHT HEART, has the power and the ability to shake the very foundation of hell, break down strongholds, and decimate the pride that poisons our soul like the venom that it is in our veins. Im going to break this down in the way He showed me. When we pray for His will to be done ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, we are in fact.... 1. Realizing that earth has another agenda. 2. Believing that through our prayers, we are able to tear away the strongholds the enemy has built in this world which holds onto a radically false idea of truth. 3. Taking action to see that the will of God overrides the will of the enemy in this world. Remember, the enemy won the rights to this place fair and square when we as humans chose our will above Gods. It is imperative that we seek His will and stop assuming that since He is in control of it all, He doesnt need us to pray. That is a lie of the enemy. He gave us free will and He will not override that will, so our prayers AND THE INTENT of them do matter and THEY DO alter global events. Now, here is the part that helped me to see that I had not given enough importance to this verse. And what He showed me was that when we pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven, we must also agree to that IN OUR OWN LIVES AS WELL. Objectively, that would mean.... 1. We relinquish our title as god of our life. 2. We allow Him to strip away the pride that keeps us on our own personal throne. 3. We choose to no longer decide what is best for us. 4. We truly believe, as John said, He must increase and I must decrease. If we pray this verse over this world and over our lives and our circumstances with a fervent heart, we are in fact GIVING UP all of our rights and allowing God to do what He sees fit. And although it is one of the most difficult things to succumb to, we will truly be blessed for doing so. So ironically, one of the most overstated verses in the Word becomes one of the most underrated in meaning and in deed. The future of the world and likewise, OUR OWN future, hinges upon this singular verse. AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. What happens in Heaven? There is peace because God is in control. There is holiness because God is in control. There is eternity because God is in control. There are no wars, no famines, no hatred, no lying, no confusion, no fear, no death, no sorrow, no jealousy, no pride, no mischief of any kind. BECAUSE GOD IS IN CONTROL.
