I was browsing through my old photos and came across a few that Id like to share. Yes, I know that its not Thursday, but I felt like it, okay? This was the Can-Am Championship race in 1967 at the Stardust Grand Prix, Las Vegas. I met and chatted with a few of the drivers before the race and looked at the cars. John Surtees, a British Formula One champion, was racing a Lola T-70 Mk-3 for his Team Surtees. He was very nice and I wished him well. He won! He was mobbed by reporters and I called out John... he turned toward me and waved and waited till he saw the flash on my camera. I also met Denny Hulme, who won in 1968. The Stardust Hotel was sold in 1969 and the racetrack was abandoned by the new owners. The car was Dan Gurneys Lola Mk-3.
