I was challenged to take part in a week of gratitude where I will - TopicsExpress

I was challenged to take part in a week of gratitude where I will post 3 things I am thankful for each day. In no certain order, just sharing things that are on my mind. 1) I am thankful for our DMEs. We have two- one for trach supplies (AlaMed) and one (ContinuumRX) for feeding supplies. Since becoming part of the special needs world, I have witnessed many parents complain about their supply companies. We have been so blessed with excellent suppliers. Anytime Ive asked for something, they have gotten it to us. We called AlaMed at 3PM with a prescription for Brynlees apnea monitor when she came home and by 5PM, they were here setting it up and walking us through it. Ive never had to fight for supplies and for that I am beyond thankful. There are caregivers who run out of supplies every month and we have an abundance. 2) Along those same lines, I am thankful for these genius inventions that allow us to feed our daughter and clear her airway. In the beginning, I could not imagine hooking her up to feed in public or turning on that loud suction machine. Now Justin & I do it all with a smile and a giggle because we know as soon as that machine turns on, heads are going to turn. Instead of being embarrassed, I now want to hold her up with those machines Lion King style and say Look at this MIRACLE!! Shes our Wonder Woman. 3) Finally to finish my thoughts here- I love Prevacid. We knew Brynlee was sick, but we had NO idea just how sick she was at the time. She had only gained 2lbs in her 4 months of life and had started losing weight. We had watched her vomit for so long and watched her color turn gray and her eyes turn black but it all happened so gradually that we just didnt realize how bad it was until we were sitting in Dr. Peters office and were listening to him say I am very worried. This is not a viable path for her. We need to get her in tomorrow. I am getting on the phone with the GI NOW. Hearing that the path she was on was not compatible with life instantly brought me to tears. Thanks to our Nurse Jaime, Dr. Peter and Dr. McClellan working together to figure things out, Prevacid gave us our little girl back and saved her life. I wont challenge anyone specifically but if you feel down discouraged with how things are going, it always helps to write down a few things that you are thankful for to combat the ache. Darkness cannot drive our darkness; only light can do that. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
