I was having a conversation with my friends Neka and Asaru about propaganda and violence, more specifically gun violence. I was saying that propaganda effects all who are subject to it; that the only way to not be affected is to not be exposed. They argued that they never have an urge to shoot, or do bodily harm to people, nor do they use suggestive vernacular, yet still play shooting video games. Now, these are, what i would call, two high consciousness individuals. Every body doesnt vibrate on the same frequency. I would argue that people of a higher frequency will be less affected, but affected none the less... basically that the manifestation of propaganda is more subtle in individuals that are more aware. This difference might not necessarily be innate either. It maybe do to an exterior variable like the rate of repetition of said propaganda. This is to say that more aware individuals monitor, and are more active participants in the propaganda to which they are exposed, after all, The brain is a creature of repetition. So, no... your violent video games and movies probably dont want to make YOU kill anyone, but odds are the repetition rationalizes at least a few crazy thoughts in the world, or makes others just a little quicker to act out... Or maybe it just helps you accept that the world is violent, and so when you hear these stories about school shootings and such disasters we never take any extreme measures (collectively) because thats just reality... And your demonized as a radical if you stand alone, our in a minority. IMO.
