I was invited to the Nathan Hale School open house tonight and I must say the experience for me was very disappointing at best. Certainly hurtful for the little first graders that went to see their teacher only to see a bunch of boxes piled on their desks, no decorations and NO TEACHER. No teacher hired for this class and kids start on Monday. Not even a staff member there to explain to parents the situation.....nothing.......just a pile of boxes in an empty room. What an awful welcome to the new parents and kids. What a real disapointment to those of us that expect more. I understand external issues that can affect educational outcomes but this type of stuff puts kids behind from the start and erodes any confidence parents may have. It was very painful to see so many disappointed little faces and unhappy parents. Not a good way to start.
