I was just given what I think would be a back handed compliment. A British man & Japanese girl just came up to me & said You must not be an American?! I responded: Why is that? He said You are far too quiet, I barely would know you were in this coffee shop. That is quite un-American. She said Also you have a nice figure and Americans dont. I bet you never eat pizza. You must be a yoga instructor. I responded with a giggle Thank you for the compliment. I lift weights, I eat very well & treat myself to pizza on a regular basis They laughed. He hit his gut & said: Yeah I eat allot of pizza too. Why dont you have one of these? As they turned away I added Oh and by the way I am proud to be an American! This was a very friendly exchange :) Just found it to be fun & interesting. I never realized what the rest of the world can think of Americans at time. Loud & fat is pretty much what I have heard time & time again. Have you ever been told things about your culture that surprise you a bit?
