I was just reminded of this by something I was watching and couldnt wait until December to share. On December 8 1942, just hours after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor they also attacked an island in the North Pacific called Wake Island which was occupied by US Marines. Marine fighter squadron VMF- 211 was on Wake Island during the attack and many of the Marines were held as POWs for most of the war. The Island was attacked by the USA and the Marines regained control of Wake Island. 6 decades later I had the honor of being a part of Marine Attack Squadron VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers and fought in a war with these incredible people. I will carry that with me for the rest of my life and would do it again any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I love America and will never forget the outstanding men and women that I had the privilege and the honor of defending it with. Blah. Enough said. Hopefully someone out there enjoyed this brief history lesson.
