I was nominated by Brittney to share my favourite bible verse which is Isaiah 61... The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. (Isaiah 61:1-3 NLT) The best part for me about this scripture is that there is a 400 year span of time in which the scripture is spoken until its fulfillment. (How did Isaiah know? Where did he get his information from?) I am amazed at how God is a planner. He tells his prophet 400 years in advance; this is coming... And then In Luke 4, Jesus makes a statement that today this scripture is fulfilled and He goes on to open the eyes of the blind and to heal everyone that came to him. Broken hearted people, people physically lame and sick. He healed them all!! Its was a word of restoration for back then but its also a word of restoration for today...
