I was teaching a child the beauty of being young, that they are maasoom, sinless, on the fitra of islam etc. But the child turned around and said - so what does that mean I can do anything. :/ LOL I was thinking this is not the way I wanted the kid to respond. But nevertheless to ensure that he didnt think he could just commit sins before he reached the age of accountability, I had to think quick on my toes. I had never given this analogy and Ive never heard it being used. But this is what I said to the kid and he could relate to it: Imagine for a couple of weeks you went to bed late, you went to sleep at 11, 12, 1 etc. The moment you try to go to sleep early what happens? You cant. Exactly it takes you a while to break the habit, and you continue to sleep late until you break that habit. Now imagine we committed sin during all our innocent years? How difficult will it be to behave good once we reach the age of accountability? It will be hard. Exactly. Now you dont want to be sinful right? So islam encourages you to be good even when your innocent because then it is easier for you to be good when youre accountable. I make dua that my short encounter with this child and what I said to him benefits him. And now that youve read it I make dua that it benefits you to. By Altafkeer Fe Al-Islam
