I watched the movie The Way the other night thinking it would put me to sleep, boy was I wrong this movie is touching and inspiring on multiple levels Emilio Estevez does an amazing job directing his father Martin Sheen in this movie. It is about the El camino de Santiago but more to a point it is about what the el camino is about : man must sometimes be alone in a crowd or crowded by being alone all in the quest for greater understanding. A father who at the beginning is confused and hurt by his sons need to escape what the father sees as a perfect world of opportunity by finding less in more and dying in that pursuit. So he decides that he must finish the trip his son started. In taking that first step of trying to understand his son he starts to see what his son was looking for. By retracing his sons last steps and then continuing on his intended path he finds that he, his son, and everyone are looking for the same thing if only by a different name. We are all trying to find an excuse to be our better selves, a reason to seek our own enlightenment and driving desires. When the truth has always been that these pursuits need no excuse ,they already have a higher purpose. imdb/title/tt1441912/
