I went to the exhibition "Home" at the Beaney Library, Canterbury, - TopicsExpress

I went to the exhibition "Home" at the Beaney Library, Canterbury, yesterday. There are some interesting paintings in it that people from Canterbury should take the opportunity to see, for instance ones by Howard Hodgkin and Victor Pasmore. But who will pay £4 to view a one room exhibition in a provincial City? The Beaney should have invited a specialist curator, for example a local architect or academic, to give the exhibition a stronger theme and to write an illustrated guide. They should organise events such as lectures and expert guided tours, and they should make money by selling related mercandise rather than by charges so high that people will not pay them. They need to do something before September when the exhibition closes, if it is not to go nearly unseen. All this said, if you can afford it do go and see this exhibition.
