I will always admire this lady. Heard of this Akima Paul Lambert whilst a young girl at St. Josephs Convent, Grenville. News had it that she was a bright, bright, all rounder from the country (smile) - her name came over the radio for mashing up the (100% exam) Cambridge ALevels. I later heard a little more of her through my bonafide brother Mikey Hutchinson (whilst I was at TAMCC - a local Grenada college) ... he said they sang Calypso together when they were kids. By then I was just totally impressed by her authenticity. Her name was always a point of reference at the TAMCC. Mr. Raulston Adams (may his soul rest in peace), Literature in English lecturer at the TAMCC was the one lecturer who boasted so much about his Akima, the girl that gave him his first A in a long while (chuckle, he was some else). Man, I was so inspired, I caught a-fire with a drive and determination to study hard (true, true story). I met with Akima in the virtual world of technology when msn messenger was raining and when Vin Sus FutureStyles was hot hot hot off the press (there I also met another dear friend Shellz Francis). What struck me most about the virtual Akima was her humility ! grounded-ness. and her genuineness as a person (what a Grenadian spice child). Glad that we stayed in touch (talking of which we definitely need an in-person Futurestyle meet-up of the originals. Whilst pursuing studies in Canada, during our first class, the graduate coordinator asked us to write the name of someone we admired - I wrote Akima Paul (as she then was) (hands down). Moral of the story is that you never know how far the flame of your life can pitch - even a little spark of your life can be the light for someone else. And trust me eah, the lady had no idea about the above ! :) 1 LOVE, 1 LIGHT, 1 LIFE.
