I will gladly be the meanest Mom out there, even when I waffle and give in sometimes. And I actually feel badly for children whose parents are not. I make my kids help out around the house because it is their home too and they should respect it, and me, accordingly, and they dont get paid to do it. I also dont pay my children to get good grades, even though I understand why people do. I want them to do well because its important to do well and not because they are getting 5 bucks to do it. Self motivation is a very important life lesson. I dont call the school every time there is the slightest little issue with something, because I want the girls to learn that they have to adapt and to adjust to different personalities and temperaments....the real, grown up world can be vicious and I DO NOT want them to be unprepared. There will be a day that they appreciate me for it, and maybe even thank me. I love them far too much to be anything less than their Mother. There will come a time when we can be friends, now is not that time.
