I would like to bring attention to the fact that the groups trying to recover wreckage from the Malaysia 370 are having trouble distinguishing parts of the plane from the thousands of other large articles of human-made waste they are encountering. In the Pacific ocean, there is a trash heap at the bottom of the ocean bigger than the land area of the continental United States, and in the Indian ocean there is a trash heap roughly twice the size of Texas. Regardless on who you are or what you believe, this is a problem that needs to be addressed. Its time that we as individuals start taking steps to reduce our waste output, time for world governments and international organizations to set stricter standards on pollution control, and time for all of us to work together to find alternative forms of consumer goods that leave less non-biodegrateble waste behind. We only have one planet, and we need to start taking action immediately if we want to ensure the environmental safety of our planet for generations to come.
