IMPORTANT MESSAGE I receive private questions from time to time - TopicsExpress

IMPORTANT MESSAGE I receive private questions from time to time and now again people ask after they have already acted. For example, the matter may be one related to divorce; the person takes a decision and then wants to know if what they did was right or not. Upon asking, I find out that they acted based on fatwas they read online, for example. Id like to advise all my brothers and sisters not to do things like that. Sure, read fatwas from legitimate sites and in certain cases you may get a clear picture of whether something is ok or not because the question happened to be petty much exactly what you are asking. However, in issues of marriage, divorce, certain financial transactions, etc you really need to consult a person of knowledge directly. The reason is that they will likely have questions for you to answer before giving you a response. These are huge decisions and reading a bit here and there or opening a book will not be sufficient for the average person. Some of these issues can be very complicated and there could be some subtle issues the average person is not aware of. So please, dont make life changing decisions solely based on a fatwa you read online. Perhaps there was a typo, perhaps the case they were responding to is not quite the same as yours, or perhaps you misread the fatwa. Be cautious as sometimes it can lead you to some dangerous territory.
