*** INFORMATION FOR TICKET PURCHASERS *** The SU wishes to apologise profusely for the problems many experienced today when buying tickets for our Term 1 and Freshers events. We have been investigating these issues since midday when tickets went on sale, and it appears that both the SU’s servers and our software provider were running comfortably throughout the process (as indeed they were during the Sports Ball sale last year). Given that other Students’ Unions using this software experience no such issues, we therefore initially thought that the issue may lie with University bandwidth. After consulting with the University’s IT department, however, it appears that this also was not the case. This is as frustrating for us as it is for you, as obviously the last thing we want is for our members to experience such difficulties when purchasing tickets or passes! Our teams are working extremely hard to identify what is causing the problem in order rectify it, but sadly this is a painstaking process. As a result of this, not all payments which were attempted went through properly. This has led to considerable confusion over whether or not tickets have been purchased for Term 1 events. If you check your Purchase History by logging into the SU website and clicking on your profile, it will tell you whether or not you have the tickets you were attempting to purchase confirmed. If a ticket or pass is listed in your Purchase History, it literally has your name on it for the time being - so you don’t need to worry about getting hold of another one! It may be the case, however, that the payment itself hasn’t been processed, and so we will need to follow that up with you at a later date. The ticket will, however, remain yours until payment has been received for it. We will be investigating this to ascertain the cause of the problem, and will be in touch with purchasers within the coming week to confirm payment details. If your Purchase History does NOT show any confirmed tickets, unfortunately these are not on your account – though the payment attempts may still have registered as ‘ghost’ transactions on your bank statement. When a payment is attempted but fails, it will initially register as a pre-emptive transaction, but ultimately won’t be debited. Therefore, those of you who may have been notified of multiple deductions will ultimately NOT have those amounts debited from your accounts. Currently, our total of Freshers Passes have all been allocated, pending completion of the transaction process. Provisionally this means they are now sold out – if, however, you have a Freshers Pass in your basket, this will remain there until midnight tonight. If these transactions are not completed by this time, the remaining Freshers Passes will go back into circulation for general purchase. In the meantime, individual event tickets are still available for all events if you missed out on a Freshers Pass – sadly we only have a limited number available. Once again, we can only offer our sincere apologies to the entire student body for these issues – we do our utmost to safeguard against such occurrences and are deeply frustrated by today’s events.
