IS IT TIME TO SELL YOUR INVESTMENT PROPERTY IF THE MARKET IS HOT? The answer to this question depends on what you want the property to do for you. If the rent is good and provides an income, then that could be great. But if you need a tax break and want to negatively gear, then possibly not so good. Also, it depends on what you are planning to do with the money if you do sell. If you are going to reinvest in property then you would need a good reason to get out of the property you have and pay agents fees and stamp duty in order to buy a new one. A good reason may be that your property is an under-performer in terms of capital growth and you want to reinvest in more blue chip stock. Or perhaps you want to buy shares or invest in a business and this is your opportunity to strike. What stage of life you are in? You may be planning to retire and need to release some debt, in which case trying to sell at the peak of the market can be a good idea. But if the only reason you are thinking of selling is because the market is hot, then I personally wouldnt recommend!
