If it doesnt rain buckets well have the sugarbush all tapped out today. Theres the possibility that well fire up the evaporator this afternoon, but its more likely that the first cooking will happen tomorrow. Even in snowshoes you sink deep into the slush now, and I think I can hear the giggle of little streams flowing in the deeper washes. Steve tells me of a winter when hed been plowing out sugarbush trails with his old Ford tractor (now my old Ford tractor) and he started a 4 foot high slush avalanche that he and the tractor barely stayed ahead of as it washed down the gullies and finally deposited its flotsam and detritus at the landing by the town road. He says theres about twice as much slush on the hills this year as then. Things could get interesting in the woods today. So what the hells new with you?
