If you actually want to make a difference to those who genuinely need it, dont do the stupid ice bucket challenge, donate to Cancer Research UK, which does a helluva lot more than ALS ever does. Some other fantastic charities (not necessarily British and/or Chronic Disease related), are UNICEF, Against Malaria Foundation, SCI (Schistosomiasis Control Initiative), Oxfam GB. Full details below, following my cross-examination of their financial data. Huge list of charities here, which you can examine for expenditure: theguardian/news/datablog/2012/apr/24/top-1000-charities-donations-britain Im sorry everyone, but I cannot simply entrust my money to a charity (ALS) which pays their CEO £200,000. That is frankly ridiculous on its own, but they also received £15million in donations, and of that, £7.5million went directly to paying employees. £0.6million was used for advertisement and public awareness. On the ethical side, ALS tests via stem cell research; this includes foetuses (pre-born and aborted), before baby - but they still experience pain and have conciousness as soon as a nervous system has been developed. They also test on animals, so you vegetarians and vegans out there, youre funding animal testing.
