If you are demanding that you repent by self-condemnation you are - TopicsExpress

If you are demanding that you repent by self-condemnation you are trying to change in a way that is according to the law and “works of the flesh.” In contrast the Bible tells us, “and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses” (Acts 13:39). Repentance based on works is bondage. Repentance based on grace frees you! Making yourself feel bad about what you have done wrong may punish you into a temporary appearance of outward conformity, but it does nothing to help change your behavior long term. The Bible says, “...the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement...are of no value against fleshly indulgence.” (Col. 2:23). Repentance by regret is self-abasement and is of “no value against fleshly indulgence!” Hear it: changing that results from self-directed put downs is of no value toward helping you repent. Believe it because that is what the Bible says. It is like washing your hands after before a meal. Dirt and bacteria are on them. So wash them. Gang we live in a polluted world. Get the crap off your body. It is not that hard champions. God loves you. Feeling guilty will not cleans you, the cleaning is Gods job. 1John1:9 says that he will do it. Confess it, Believe it and then the time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord will come. Not guilt. You are sons and free.
