If you are not a tech-savvy person, you probably get a glazed-eye - TopicsExpress

If you are not a tech-savvy person, you probably get a glazed-eye look when these stories come out. Please do not ignore this. Ill try to keep it basic. There is a computer/internet security vulnerability that has been discovered recently and if you are reading *THIS* post, you need to act to protect your data. If you are on my friends list, you know I dont forward out goofy send this to all your contacts messages, so you can believe me on this one. If you do *any* online purchasing, social networking, or even web-based e-mail, you need to seriously consider changing your passwords on the sites you frequent. CNET has a good list of potentially affected sites in the article below, but no one list is going to be complete. Look at *your* favorites list and bookmarks. If you frequent sites where you have to log on, it would be a good idea to go ahead and come up with new passwords. Its also best not to use the same password on sites where you store personal or financial data as you do on social sites. By the way, I havent seen any reports of phishing (identity theft attempt) e-mails where senders are telling us to click *here* to change our passwords. Expect that to begin soon. *DONT* click on those e-mails. Go to the web sites that you know you use and initiate the action on your own. Feel free to check it out. I trust CNET, but every reputable tech news site is discussing this. Remember, if a site you use isnt listed, act anyway.
