If you receive the things that I say on Facebook via email and this results in you having an inbox full of SCOTT LAMB SAID... Then I would ask you to change your settings. The way that I use Facebook is that I talk into it in the way that I would natter to a friend of mine. So I speak in a stream-of-consciousness fashion, assuming that the people reading it are getting it among a stream of similar posts via their Facebook feed. People having good times, bad times, miserable times, nothing times... the folks who are posting Im bored at the bus stop. If youre getting a serialised list of things that Ive said via your inbox from Facebook, then you, and Facebook are violating the assumed social contract by which I use this platform. It is not natural to read through a list of things that a friend said via your inbox, the day after they said them, with no surrounding context (of the time or your other friends, or the state of the world). This is not how you are supposed to read me. If this IS how you are reading me, then I would appreciate it if you either change your settings or defriend me. I am not an RSS feed to be read at leisure and out of context. I am a person who interacts with his friends. Youre doing me a disservice by dictating the way in which you interact with me and making it one-directional. There is a difference. If you follow or consume what I say as a data source of some kind, then please dont. It is rude and extremely disrespectful. You are a peeping Tom. Interact with me and be an actual friend of mine, or get your entertainment elsewhere. Ill be doing what I can to adjust my Facebook settings accordingly, but I would prefer it if people could act with some kind of good behaviour / honour.
