If you were a kid in the 80s and early 90s, you were occasionally left in the car while your parents handled business. Sometimes with the A/C on, sometimes with the windows down. I think I was capable of rolling down the windows, adjusting the A/C, locking and unlocking the doors, and getting out of the car if necessary when I was 5. We can argue whether or not its negligence, and you will probably win. But you will never convince me that this should be a felony.
