If youre anything like me, sometimes you find yourself desperately craving food that you KNOW doesnt serve your health. It can be so frustrating when your body and mind seem to be fighting your every attempt to look after them! And what should you do anyway? Give in and you usually end up feeling guilty, angry, depressed or ashamed; hold out and youre likely to feel restricted and deprived. Or do something different. Instead of giving in or exercising self control, ask yourself what it is youre really looking for in that moment. Is it comfort or company? Relaxation or reward? Stimulation or sympathy? Even if you go ahead and eat whatever it is youre craving, ask yourself the question anyway. Just observe. Take note of the answer. And over time, start trying to give yourself what you REALLY need.
