If youve ever wondered what had taken place in the South Pacific and Alaska during World War II, this information that was Classified from the United States of American Citizens for 60 Years, never showing up in our high school U.S. History Books has been declassified for everyone to view the photographs and detailed information. Picture 67 shows MacArthur landing on Leyte. The man second from the right with no hat is Correspondent William Dunn, yes Pat Dunns father. His book was one of the best WWII Pacific books that I have read. He was a CBS radio correspondent and was in China/Burma area when WWII started. He was recalled and assigned to MacArthur. The way it worked was that MacArthur did not want all the correspondents tagging along with him everywhere he went. So the policy was that the correspondents were to choose 1 from their group to represent them and they were to come back and share all the news with all the correspondents. A lot of the correspondents would cheat and hold out information and Mr. Dunn was about the only one that shared it all so he was always chosen to be the one to be with MacArthur. These photographs were classified during WWll. Many of us have not seen photography like this before. Beautiful, stark black and white pictures, about 110 of them of historical significance in this collection. At the end of the pics there are some interesting comments.
