Ifa group blames Nigeria’s woes on neglect of culture by KEMI OLAITAN on Aug 23, 2013 | No comments Posted under: News 5 2 1 1 The International Council for Ifa Religion yesterday in Ibadan called for a cultural revolution in a bid to tackle the socioeconomic and security challenges confronting the country. Addressing journalists, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group, Baba Awo Awogbemiga Bogunmbe, identified the neglect of cultural heritage and tradition as the major sources of series of problems confronting Nigeria. Bogunmbe, who is also the President of Ogundameji Temple World- Wide, congratulated all the traditional religion worshipers across the country over the just concluded 2013 Isese Day, which took place in Oyo State at the Cultural Centre, Mokola, Ibadan, on Tuesday. He commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State for giving adequate recognition to traditional religion and particularly, the Isese Day, and for promoting the knowledge of Yoruba culture and tradition in schools. He claimed that the promotion of the knowledge of Yoruba traditional religion in Osun schools would go a long way in addressing the problem of moral decadence among the youth. Bogunmbe, however, appealed to other South- West governors to emulate Aregbesola by promoting Yoruba culture and tradition in their states. The Ifa priest specifically appealed to traditional rulers in Yorubaland to live up to the expectations in the area of the revival and promotion of the Yoruba culture and tradition.
