Im doing this! And I need your help! Yes, Im going to do the 24.1 mile hike up and over a 5,000+ ft. mountain and down to Franklin, NC, all on the one day of May 31. I have a goal of raising $2,500 toward helping the Make-A-Wish foundation help children realize their dreams while battling life-threatening conditions of their own. I know if I had ever been in the situation of any of these kids, I would probably have wished for an opportunity to do a hike like this. Well, I can do this now to help them achieve their own ambitions. My own ultimate ambition is to thru-hike the whole Appalachian Trail, and the training I will do this winter and spring to prepare for this 24-mile challenge will be good preparation toward that goal as well. I ask you to help me raise my goal so that I will qualify for this opportunity to challenge myself and provide funding for this worthy cause which helps give these children the will to live and the strength to face the challenges that have them fighting for their lives. I was surprised myself to learn that recipients of Make-A-Wish awards have a survival rate of more than 50%, and many look back to the opportunity they received through Make-A-Wish as contributing significantly to the turning point in their recovery.
