Im going to start doing some occasional write ups on our local suppliers, so that our customers might become closer acquainted where there food comes from. I would like to start today with Toy Cow Creamery, our raw milk and dairy product supplier. Toy Cow is a small dairy in the Nippenose valley near Williamsport, Pa. Their milk comes from jersey cows fed primarily on grass. They use no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or insecticides on their farm, and the milk is produced without the use of antibiotics, added hormones, chemicals or soy products. They are not however “certified organic”. The milk is tested regularly by a certified milk tester for assurance of quality and that there are no impurities. The products that we carry from Toy Cow include: raw milk, raw milk yogurt, raw milk cheeses, nitrate free beefs sticks, and handmade potato chips. The raw milk cheese comes in a variety of types including, mozzarella, swiss, smoked swiss, garlic and herb, colby, pepper jack, goat milk feta, and goat milk cheddar.
