Im hearing about VOLTA MUSIC AWARDS. Very splendid idea the organizers have brought up. But HOW SERIOUS are Voltarians to promoting, investing, grooming their own home-based talents??? Are they trying to also raise an awards to satisfy themselves because we know that Volta music nationally hasnt been given any clear and or reasonable recognition??? Who are the people sitting on that Board??? How far have they worked to project Volta music to higher platforms??? Who and who will they be awarding when we know ONLY FEW Volta musicians are in MAINSTREAM music circles??? How many VIABLE or REASONABLE music shows have we put up ourselves in Volta Region to say we are rewarding our own music??? Even with our very own indigenous musicians like ISRAEL MAWETA, Edemonline, Stonebwoy Burniton etc and big Volta Producers/Sound Engineers like Zapp Mallet and Jmjbaby, how has the Volta Region (the so-called Volta Big Men) supported any of these musicians to NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL level(s)??? Our own Volta artistes are put on shows in Volta Region and they are not even contacted; severally Ive seen and heard Volta artistes going to play shows there and are FINANCIALLY MANHANDLED. nobody is saying Volta artistes cant play free shows for their Region but if you know you dont have the necessary resources to book am artistes dont even put them on your show. We need to wake up and stop these sloppy acts and know that the music industry is not just a hobby but a PROFESSION and BUSINESS as well. I am NOT undermining the upcoming VOLTA MUSIC AWARDS I hear would be coming up soon but until we as Voltarians GET SERIOUS with our own Art & Entertainment industry from home and give necessary and or required support, NOBODY would see us there. Maybe Im talking too loud again or jumping the gun but what I would say is if these award organizers are TRULY SERIOUS about promoting Volta music they would get back to the drawing board and devote at least 5 years to support, promote and nurture Volta music talents before even thinking of any award. If all that Ive written here is not true, feel free and question me back!!! (Elorm Beenie)
