Im just saying, if you cant even give a physical copy of the magazine to the artist(s) youre putting on the cover and/or featuring in your publication for some sort of compensation on top of a digital tear...thats just disappointing. I personally think that should be considered common courtesy and common practice for the business if youre not actually paying anyone for all of the time, effort, money (for equipment, education, materials, travel costs, ect.), blood/sweat/tears, years of hard work perfecting their craft(s), dedication/determination, creativity and everything else that goes into making works of art. This is especially for those who are lucky and talented enough to capture it in a photograph to be considered to be published and then deciding which publications youd like your work displayed in. I understand there are logistics to this and its cheaper for publications to only give out digital tears but that in turn doesnt pay any of the artists bills that are involved with collaborations. Anyone want to chime in and give their two cents on this subject? Just something Ive noticed a lot lately that a lot of publications are going digital which is fine if thats where the business is headed but I personally am one of those people who likes to hold onto a physical copy of things as mementos to remind me of all that Ive accomplished thus far. Its something about it that keeps motivating me to work harder and do better than the last project I worked on. What do you all think? I know I have a lot of people on here that have publications or work for them and Id really like to hear your opinion on the matter. There is no right or wrong answer here, just curious to hear more from all sides and sorts of artists and business owners alike on what the normal is in the industry now it seems. Is it because its hard enough to get people to actually purchase subscriptions online or in physical form just to cover the overhead costs due to everything being shared on so many social media platforms? What are your thoughts/feelings/observations on this matter? Im in a very thoughtful mood tonight...and I shall leave this here as I go start on something new. :D
