Im just settling in at home now after coming back from an amazing gathering of musicians and fans of the Blues who turned out to play and groove at the benefit show for Dave Hurricane Horle at Pats Pub. It was a resounding success on several levels. No doubt a significant amount of money was generated to help Dave and his wife Lynda out in the wake of Daves major stroke. There was some amazing music played--most of which I missed due to arriving late--had a BobCats Dover gig from 4-8. Nevertheless--I heard from many about stellar performances from some of Vancouvers best. When I arrived I was blown away by running into so many of my old musical friends from my 30+ years playing here in Vancouver. I got to hear a bunch play and also had the great pleasure of playing guitar with Murray Porter,Al Foreman,Doc Fingers,Elmar Spanier and James Badger for a set. Seeing Johnny Ferrera,Marko Iberra,Lindsay Mitchell,Mark Peterson,Curtis Dubray,Teddy Leonard,Dave Webb,Kenny Wayne and Willy MacAlder and numerous others was simply fantastic. Lots of Love for Dave and Lynda was happening in that room tonight. Kudos to organizers Paul Norton,Roger Brant and Steve Kozak for making this night happen. We have a great musical community here in Vancouver.
