Im saddened to learn about Vietnam Veterans Day on Facebook. Im saddened to learn, only after reading the Presidential proclamation, that on this day 43 years ago the last of combat troops left Vietnam. Im saddened that no news source I visited, be it tv, print or online, mentioned this day. I almost cried when I read the proclamation honoring those men and women, some of whom I know. I remember how those men and women were treated upon their return and the struggle they endured to finally receive the honor and respect they deserved. Being in the army at the time, I endured some of that disrespect and disdain. To see that these men and women are again being regarded as a footnote is disheartening. Please read the proclamation and if you know any Vietnam vets, for that matter, any veteran, thank them and let them know they are not forgotten.
