Im very disappointed in the Empire State Buildings statement in - TopicsExpress

Im very disappointed in the Empire State Buildings statement in regards to why it is not lighting up gold for childhood cancer. I agree that being abusive in anyway is the wrong way to go about campaigning but we cant control everyone and I think the people that went about campaigning in a respectful manner out weigh the ones that went about it in the wrong way. Im really disappointed because the ESB isnt being very honest in their statement. They are saying that only individuals applied to have them go gold which just isnt true. Several childhood cancer organizations applied and were turned down with no explanation. The ESB refused to make any public statements to explain why they would not go gold for a long period of time and with September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month) fast approaching emotions are running high. Waiting until 2015 is an eternity in the childhood cancer community because with Neuroblastoma alone a child dies every 16 hours, not to mention how many die from other forms of cancer. For families going through this horrible journey another year is a death sentence and coming to terms with the fact that a landmark like the Empire State Building NOT supporting our cause for one night in the month of September is a hard pill to swallow. They state in their response that Organizations that behave responsibly may newly apply for a lighting partnership in 2015 and future years but they say that only individuals applied in the first place so who are they referring too? I hope that other landmarks and businesses will join us in supporting a cause that can save another child and their family from fighting this monster. So many people reached out to the ESB because we all thought so highly about it. Its such a powerful thing to see such a beautiful building light up and show the world that it cares about these causes. I unfortunately see this building in another light now. I love that Coney Island is going gold for our kids, I hope many other places follow their lead and stand with us by GOING GOLD IN SEPTEMBER!! (Below you will find a statement released by the ESB and you will also find 2 denial letters from 2 very reputable Childhood Cancer Awareness Organizations that went through the proper channels and submitted applications to the ESB. One that applied in May 2013 and the other that applied recently in August 2014)
