Ima just set this down right here, and see who comments... In my opinion, Pop killed mainstream Rhythm & Blues, meanwhile the Hip-Hop culture we have all grown to love (and sometimes hate) has been evolving as well... into the same electronic auto-tuned empty and just plain bad genre that it is today! Theres no dept, no story telling, and not even half-way decent lyrics anymore (mainstream songs, there are always exceptions). Artists in general arent selling like it used to (unless your name is Jay Z and Beyonce), and we all know theyve crossed over eons ago. Is it a label issue? An artist issue? Or has music just become less soul-orientated and more goal-orientated? Let the beat drop.....
