Immigration policy that no one will like, but will work: If you - TopicsExpress

Immigration policy that no one will like, but will work: If you have chosen to ignore the law and come here without documentation, you have 3 months to apply for and get a work visa. You must pay all fees associated with this visa, you must pay taxes, and you must have a job. If after 3 months you are caught in this country without documentation, you will be deported and will never be eligible to enter this country again for any reason. If you comply with this requirement, after 10 years you will be able to apply for a green card. You are not eligible for public assistance during this 10 year period. You are not eligible for Social Security; however you must still pay the tax. You will never be eligible for citizenship, any children born to you on US soil before the 10 year requirement will not be citizens. After you receive your green card, any children born to you after that will receive the full benefit of citizenship. If you would like to become eligible to be a citizen you may return to your country of origin and apply to return to the US. You will not be given any special consideration over others who have not chosen to ignore our laws. This will give everyone an opportunity to become legally recognized documented workers and would be fair to those who have chosen to obey the law and come here legally. The intent of this would be to discourage illegal and undocumented entry into this country, while recognizing those who are here and are providing value to our economy. Anyone caught entering the country illegally after the 3 month legalization period would ineligible for this program and would be subject to forfeit any money they have made in this country, as well as fines and imprisonment. Any one employing them without proper documentation would be subject to fines and imprisonment. The intent of this would be to discourage illegal and undocumented entry into this country, while recognizing those who are here and are providing value to our economy. Any choosing to help improve this idea please do so. Since no one in Washington is interested in doing anything but scoring political points on this issue, I’d like to start a grass roots drive to put together an idea that would work. Thanks for reading this.
