In Early Christianity, one of the first symbols used was that of the Phoenix, because it symbolized the new life that comes out of death and loss. Although the Phoenix grew old like any other being, a younger and stronger Phoenix always rose from the ashes of its predecessor. Although we are sad for the loss of St. Joseph Hall and thankful for the fact that no one was hurt, now is not the time to stand idly by. We, as sons of Calvary, can ensure that a stronger and more vibrant St. Lawrence can rise from the ashes of this tragedy. I will fully admit that I have not yet given to my alma mater. But now, I plan on giving to the best of my ability to make sure St. Lawrence is strong for 150 years to come, and I would encourage all my brothers to do the same.
