In God We Trust Faith always has been the foundation of Gods children from the beginning of the world. With faith we have nothing and are like the world. New Living Translation states from Hebrews 11: 1- 3 that Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. But what is Faith, Belief and Hope? Spirithome > Spiritual Word Meanings > Faith and Trust Faith is a confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, an idea, or a thing. belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. loyalty or allegiance to a person or thing; esp. fidelity to a promise. the theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of Gods will. Faith indicates persistent action, devotion, and direction of self, and is often charged with emotion. When there is faith within someone, they become faithful, and when they have faith in someone, that loyalty can grow into a covenant. In the Hebrew Scriptures, this is the meaning of Heb. emunah. Emunah is also used to describe the covenant of marriage, as what the husband and wife have in each other. Faith can grow stronger or become weaker, changing with each situation. Life eventually puts it to the test. Belief, Confidence, and other terms: Assurance is a confidence or sureness that is not rooted in your intellect. It usually comes about because of the action of someone else. Belief: the mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in another. The mental acceptance and conviction in the truth, actuality, or validity of something. Beliefs are existing ideas which one holds to; faith looks toward what is to come. Belief relates most to knowledge and understanding; faith relates most to hope and trust. Belief may or may not imply that the believer is certain, whereas faith implies a level of confidence which approaches certainty. Certainty is not a form of faith, but of knowledge, based on demonstrable evidence which is so strong that it can be fairly labeled proof. Confidence suggests less emotional intensity (or, at least, a much less visible intensity); it implies stronger grounds for assurance. Conviction is a strongly-held belief or idea on spiritual or moral matters. It is something that often grows out of life experiences and hard thinking or meditation. Our faith is a lively hope ( 1 Peter 1:3. This *hope is a living *hope because God raised Jesus from death. Christians believe that God will raise them from death too. This hope is lively also because we have an inheritance (that is unlike anything pricely on earth can not fade or ruin ) but is reserved in heaven ( 1 Peter 1: 3 ). Yet Jesus said this: “When the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8) It’s going to get so bad on earth before His return that He asks this question of whether or not there’ll even be faith left on the earth at His return. What is the context of all this? At the beginning of Luke 18, “He spoke a parable to them that men ought always to pray and not to faint. Faith in God appears to have declined dramatically in the last century or so, especially throughout the nations of the Western world but these are just the beginning of sorrows. In II Thessalonians 2:3 that I quoted above, the full verse says “That day shall not come except there come a falling away first and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.” This is something that’s not happened yet but it may happen in our lifetimes. Here and elsewhere the Bible predicts that, in the very last days before the return of Jesus. In Matthew 24:12, where Jesus was speaking about the time just before His return, He said, “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.” Boundless iniquity and a growing lack of love throughout the earth. Then in II Thessalonians 2:3 Paul said about the second coming of the Lord, “that day shall not come except there come a falling away first.” A falling away from faith in God throughout the earth. We are not yet in the era of days of Tribulation but how is your faith now. Are we living in fear and great anxiety or possessing a lively hope that provides you with daily fuel of bold assurance of Gods promises and a sure reality of Gods plans for you? Where is your faith in God? Among the pleasure of life did not our Father speak of a growing of trials, tribulations, persecution, vanity, abuse and disrespect. Is not this one of the reasons Jesus died that we may possess a a Comforter. Faith is the trust that He will do all that He said.Shall our faith be built on physical evidence ( those things we see, touch, smell and hear or instead on spiritual evidence ( Gods Word and His promises. We by now acknowledge that nothing in our world can hold constant, is always true and can be continuely trusted. Compare every law, standard of what is healthy and what is believed or even those we are taught as leaders of trust such as our presidents, ministers and preachers, teachers and parents: are all still trustworthy and reliable, to the constancy of God s Word. God has always provided His best. His love will forever stand and be of righteousness, justice, grace and mercy. His promises are true, for He can not lie. Let us pray that we will always say In God We Trust!
