In Greece, Spain and Italy companies are now legally entitled to set worse terms of employment under the guise of EU demands to increase economic ‘competitiveness’ while in Romania collective bargaining has almost ground to a halt. The EU is insisting on this full frontal attack on working people on the basis that it will increase ‘competitiveness’ yet it is clearly leading to a weakening of national economies which is what it is designed to do, after all a weakened periphery strengthens the centre of the empire.
