In Newport last eve was reminded of Yales famous Rev War era - TopicsExpress

In Newport last eve was reminded of Yales famous Rev War era President Rev. Ezra Stiles - an early portrait of him is at the Redwood Library and Athenaeum where he functioned as librarian. I enjoyed the Hartford Courants Connecticuts Whos Who (which I cant seem to link) in this mornings paper. But its a pretty random list (as any might be) and would be better if theyd crowd sourced it with a few CT historians. Its too slanted toward the contemporary (not surprisingly) and includes Francis Bushnell !? - but not Rev. Horace Bushnell and some contemporary flashes in the pan that history will surely forget; etc. One of 100+ omissions as good as anyone on the list is Ezra. His diary is an astonishing document of colonial life and would make a great movie. (click pix for captions) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezra_Stiles
