In case you are unaware, Franklin County Dog Shelter is euthanizing an alarming number of dogs every single day (around 500 a month). To say I’m disappointed in not only the Commissioners, shelter leadership and some staff there, is an understatement. While I understand the dog overpopulation problem is a community issue, this shelter is NOT doing enough to save Franklin County’s homeless dogs. Nearly half of the dogs that enter this shelter leave going out the backdoor in a body bag. In the more recent weeks, PFPO has pulled dogs that should not have been on the euthanasia list at all. Dogs are not being behavior assessed at all. The shelter is now not working with our fosters and making it incredibly difficult to work with them because of new policies that are imposed on all-volunteer rescue groups. If you care about dogs, then take a minute to express your concern to the Franklin County Commissioners and attend this Vigil.
