In fulfillment of the promise by President Goodluck Jonathan for more federal presence in the state, a team from the Federal Ministry of Lands and Housing, Abuja, has visited Ekiti State in respect of starting work on a Federal Secretariat in the state. A statement in Ado-Ekiti by the Chairman of the Transition Committee, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, said the team led by a Deputy Director, Arch Paul Udeozor and which also included the Federal Controller of Works in Ekiti State, Engr S O Gbadebori, came to liaise with the incoming government of Mr Ayo Fayose so that the project would start without delay as soon as the governor- elect is inaugurated. “You know that when our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, held its grand rally on June 7this year before the governorship election, President Goodluck Jonathan promised the people of the state more federal presence if they vote our candidate. “We thank the people of the state for doing their own part by voting massively for our candidate and party in the election and we are not going to disappoint them as all the promises we made will be fulfilled. “This federal secretariat is one of the numerous projects that the PDP will bring to the state from Abuja and they will complement the great plan we have for Ekiti State and which, by the grace of God, we will fulfil,” he said. Anisulowo told the team that the incoming administration would give maximum cooperation to the federal government in the execution of federal projects in the state. The delegation later visited the site of the federal secretariat. While receiving the delegation, the Deputy Governor-Elect, Dr Olusola Eleka, on behalf of the governor elect, thanked the President for taking quick step to fulfill the promises made to Ekiti people. Dr Eleka said it was obvious that a new era had started in Ekiti State with incoming PDP administration under Ayo Fayose, assuring that the incoming government would expedite action on the provision of land for the federal housing project meant to provide affordable and descent accommodation for various categories of people. The deputy governor- elect stated further that the incoming administration will continue the agenda of former Fayose adminisration which is developing the state and eradicating poverty and would collaborate with the Federal Government and private enterprenure to achieve this. Speaking further on the alleged massive recruitment and appointments in the state civil service and agencies embarked on by the outgoing Fayemi Administration, Dr Eleka said all the imbalances would be corrected.
