In light of Robin Williams recent death, and fitting with the theme of awareness-raising, I dedicate my ice bucket challenge to those fighting ALS as well as those who struggle with mental illness. I wish more initiatives, such as this one, would go viral to raise awareness of more common and unfortunately more stigmatized disorders such as PTSD, schizophrenia, depression, etc. Its time we start addressing why many people feel more comfortable using social media as a public platform to express their support for those dealing with a physical illness rather than a mental illness. So Id like to use my participation in the ice bucket challenge as an opportunity to build solidarity in the fight against all illnesses--physical and mental alike. With that, I thank Conn for the nomination and pass it on to Laura, Ryan, Nithila, and Amy!
