In loving memory of Dana Frazier Combs, 18 Aug 1920 - 17 Jul 2009. The precious baby girl in this photo, is my mother and was taken when she was 9 months old, May 1921. She is sitting in a wash basin in the yard at the home of her paternal grandmother, Lucinda Ingram Frazier Jones, at Kingdom Come, Letcher Co, KY. I love her chubby little cheeks and her head full of dark curly hair. Five years ago today, she went home to join my dad, Elmer Combs, her husband of 64 years. He had waited for her arrival for nearly six years. I could never have imagined I would miss her so terribly. Grateful and proud to have had her as my mother. My eldest brother, who was stillborn in 1940, was finally reunited with his mom, after 65 years apart. She passed, on what would have been, her sister, Dixie Frazier Dallass, 91st birthday. It was their first birthday together in 45 years. The last words my mother spoke, were to tell each of us at her bedside, how much she loved us. We love you, too, Mom and miss you every day. Love never dies. Love endures all things. Love never dies. Sadly missed by her children, Gale Combs, Roger Combs, Lynetta Snider, LaVonda Sullivan and Lisa Combs, and grandchildren.
