In motorcycles, there are 3 types of license. B2 - For low-powered motorcycles (under 250cc*) B1 - For medium-powered motorcycles (under 500cc) B - For high-powered motorcycles (above 500cc) Respectively, during training & JPJ test, one would go through the test with the type of motorcycle youre applying the license for (e.g. B class, means you take the test with a high-powered motorcycles). In cars, heres where it gets interesting (and stupid). License types = D (manual transmission)/DA (automatic transmission) - motocar under 3500KG. Thats right, the classification is based not how much power the car can deliver nor the capacity of the engine (which correlate to how much power) but the weight of the car (which is irrelevant to the drivers skills). Which means, you will train & take the test with a Perodua Viva (the ones they have at driving school is about 600cc engine that gives about 31HP**, so its pretty underpowered) and once youve passed, you can get yourself any car you can afford; Typically the choices would be Proton Preve, Honda City, Toyota Vios or Myvi which the average engine size is about 1500cc (2.5 times the size) and the average power is about 100hp (3.2 times the power of the car you took your drivers license on). Hell, you can even immediately start driving a Ferrari if you can afford one. Thats right. Learn to drive and take the test on an underpowered compact car. Once passed, you can buy ANY high powered car that you can afford and immediately drive it. Hell, you can even legally drive a 1000HP Bugatti Veyron if you can afford one. No wonder we cant drive for shit. Note: We also cant drive for shit because our driving school in Malaysia is a joke, really. Majority of the instructors are incompetent trainers who cant be arsed to teach you about driving safely. *cc = cubic centimetes = Engine size **hp = horsepower = maximum power the engine can deliver
