In my hometown, as a teenager, I used to participate in the "Pabulíg." It is an old practice by the natives of my hometown province (Davao Oriental) in which the rice farm owner invites the villagers or the community to participate during the rice harvest and have their own percentage of share (binuligan) from the harvested rice. In essence, pabulíg is a participatory and communal act where the villagers can get their respective shares of harvest from their neighbors’ crops. When the harvest is done, a festivity will follow to be participated by the whole village or community. (Danny Castillones Sillada, Pabulig: A Communal Rice Harvest)
