In one study, cats were 13 times more likely to be returned home - TopicsExpress

In one study, cats were 13 times more likely to be returned home by non-shelter means (such as returning home on their own) than by a call or visit to a shelter. And another study found that people are up to three times more likely to adopt cats as neighborhood strays versus adopting from a shelter. AND this is why I do not advocate taking stray cats to the shelter. I get scolded sometimes for not wanting people to call animal control and have the cat taken to a shelter, but after owning cats for more than 40 years who have all had the freedom to go outside I know this to be very very true. I see this every day on the Lost Cats of Wisconsin page. So when you contact me about a cat outside your house and I tell you to leave it, or put a collar on it with a note attached asking the owner to call you, its not because I dont care.....its because I Do Care, I KNOW CATS, I know them better than I know Humans.
