In this week of Thanksgiving, we are looking at a list of things - TopicsExpress

In this week of Thanksgiving, we are looking at a list of things we can be thankful about every day in Psalms 107. The first of these is found in verses 2-4. HE HAS REDEEMED US. Ps 107:2-4 2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 3And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. 4They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. God has redeemed us from ourselves and from the penalty of sin. He has brought us out. He has done this not just once, but he brings us out over and over again. Redemption and ransom are used interchangeably in the scripture depending on which version you are reading. But regardless of which word is used, the meaning is the same. He paid the price. 1 Peter 1:18-19 18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Col 1:12-14 12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: We have been delivered from the penalty of sin which is death. We have been delivered from living in guilt and condemnation. We have been delivered from attempting to gain favor with God by trying to satisfy Him with our dead works. We have been redeemed to a life of relationship, friendship, and intimacy. The Psalmist says He has gathered us to Himself. We now belong to Him. We have much to be thankful for each day. We have been translated from death unto life and from guilt to innocence. Thank you Lord Jesus that in your mercy you have redeemed us.
